Lesley-Ann Brandt (born two Dec 1981) is a Southward African actress. Brandt has acted in a number of New Zealand tv series and first came to international notice with her part as a slave girl Naevia in the series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Since Jan 2016, she has played the role of Mazikeen on the television serial Lucifer.
Early life [edit]
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Brandt is Cape Coloured of Indian, German, Dutch, and Spanish descent.[ane] [2] She is a fluent Afrikaans speaker[3] and lists yoga, hockey, and baseball among her interests.[4] In South Africa, she played competitive field hockey.[5]
In 1999, Brandt immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand, with her parents and her younger brother Brian Brandt. She originally auditioned for the role of Sura but the casting director suggested she audition for the role of Naevia instead.[4] Brandt did non return for the subsequent seasons of Spartacus due to product delays following the death of Andy Whitfield.[ten] Her managing director Steven Jensen stated to TheWrap, "She'd like to go back, simply they really haven't gotten the number we're looking for." In 2013, she had a recurring role in the third season of Single Ladies as Naomi Cox.[13] In 2014, she guest starred as Larissa Diaz/Copperhead on Gotham,[14] and appeared every bit the recurring character Lamia in The Librarians.[fifteen] In 2015, she won the role of Maze in the Pull a fast one on television serial Friction match. Brandt married her boyfriend of six years, actor Chris Payne Gilbert, in 2015.[18] The couple's first child, son Kingston Payne Brandt-Gilbert, was born in July 2017.[19]
